Functional Patterns in an Annual during an AVIRIS Overflight* Grassland

چکیده
Th i s study relates Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) imagery to ground measurements of vegetation distribution, physiology, and productivity at Stanford University's Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve. Primary efforts focused on a 9-ha region of annual grassland where we completed a detailed ground-based study in conjunction with a 15 May 1991 A VIRIS overflight. Spectral mixture analysis and the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) calculated from A VIRIS data were used to evaluate spatial patterns of vegetation type, productivity, and potential

Evaluation of the Photochemical Reflectance Index in AVIRIS Imagery
In this paper, we evaluate the potential for extracting the “photochemical reflectance index” (PRI; previously called the “physiological reflectance index”) from AVIRIS data. This index, which is derived from narrow-band reflectanceat531 and 570 nm, has proven to be a useful indicator of photosynthetic function at the leaf and canopy scales (Gamon and Field 1992, Gamon et al. 1992, Pcfiuelas et...
متن کاملPrediction of Land Use Change and its Hydrological Effects Using Markov Chain Model and SWAT Model
Access to current and future water resources is one of the concerned problems for managers and policymakers around the world. Because of the communication between water resources and land use, these two topics had come together in different researches. Scenarios designed in regional land planning provide the basis for analyzing the existing opportunities and making the right decisions for manag...
متن کاملSeasonal and Spatial Variations of Bulk Nitrogen Deposition and the Impacts on the Carbon Cycle in the Arid/Semiarid Grassland of Inner Mongolia, China
Atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition is an important component that affects the structure and function of different terrestrial ecosystem worldwide. However, much uncertainty still remains concerning the magnitude of N deposition on grassland ecosystem in China. To study the spatial and temporal patterns of bulk N deposition, the levels of N (NH4+-N and NO3--N) concentration in rainfall were mea...
متن کاملGeneral Patterns of Nitrogen Pools and Fluxes in California Annual Grasslands
Nutrient availability is a critical controller of plant species composition and productivity and is influenced by the interaction of a number of biotic and abiotic factors (Chapin et al. 2002). In this chapter, we explore the controls over nutrient pools and fluxes across different California grassland types. We will begin with an in-depth discussion of the exoticdominated annual grassland type...
متن کاملSeasonal and Inter-Annual Variations in Carbon Dioxide Exchange over an Alpine Grassland in the Eastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau
This work analyzed carbon dioxide exchange and its controlling factors over an alpine grassland on the eastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. The main results show that air temperature and photosynthetically active radiation are two dominant factors controlling daily gross primary production. Soil temperature and soil water content are the main factors controlling ecosystem respiration. Canopy photos...
